Social Work (MSW) helps to provide professional social work services
to all eligible beneficiaries. while promoting emotional, psychological, and social
well-being of individuals and families. MSW maintains your confidentiality and follows
the highest ethical standards. Our vision is to advocate for the total well-being
of Soldiers, families, and units so they can make a maximum contribution to mission
accomplishment.
Our Treatment goals are to:
- Focus on client’s presenting problems, conscious thinking processes, and motivations.
- Accept an honest appraisal and responsibility for one’s behavior.
- Recognize vulnerable feelings and expresses them in non-threatening ways.
- Understand dysfunctional family patterns and cycles of ongoing arguments, abuse,
or violence.
- Gain insight into how childhood and developmental years affect current behavior.
- Teach communication, coping, stress and anger management, and relaxation skills,
concepts and techniques.
Outpatient Social Work Clinic
MSW provides outpatient clinical and psychiatric social work service to Soldiers,
family members, and all eligible beneficiaries by identifying, treating, preventing,
and resolving personal problems in collaboration with other members of the behavioral
health team.
Outpatient services include:
- Individual therapy
- Marital therapy
- Grief therapy
- Family therapy
- Deployment & reunion therapy
- Group therapy
- Command consultation
Family Advocacy Program Clinic
MSW provides family advocacy program services for the needs of family members within
the Fort Jackson community. MSW complies with all Federal Laws, State Statutes,
and AR 608-18, The Family Advocacy Program (FAP). Family advocacy services include:
- Marital therapy
- Family therapy
- Sexual assault/rape therapy
- Pychoeducational group therapy
- Command consultation
Additional Resources
MSW provides 24-hour emergency response to victims of sexual assault, spouse, child,
and elderly abuse/neglect. In addition, they ensure that immediate safety and protection
is provided for the victim(s).
MSW provides command consultation services on family matters, which may effect unit
combat readiness.
MSW provides support groups and classes for Soldiers and their families, prior to
deployment and reunion after deployment.
MSW has a Graduate Social Work Internship Program.
SWS collaborates with on-post and off-post community agencies in providing assistance
to families when in need. When needed, referrals will be made for:
- Psychiatric counseling
- Psychological counseling
- Financial counseling
- Social Work counseling
- Family counseling
- Alcohol/Drug counseling
- Spiritual counseling
- New parent support program
- Emergency shelter
- Army One Source
- Military One Source
- Behavioral health TRICARE value options
- Legal assistance
- Department of Social Services within the various counties
- Other providers and agencies as needed
